  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited, four-year college or university required.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years full-time experience in sports, entertainment, advertising, media, marketing or related field in the sports industry required.
  • Spanish speaking a plus.

Basic Function:

Responsible for the development and execution of Houston Texans (“Club”) marketing, promotional and branding initiatives.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to think strategically and innovatively in formulating and executing ongoing promotional and advertising plans in highly competitive environment.
  • Ability to manage a high-profile brand including maintaining brand standards, consistency and managing partners use of brands.
  • Strong understanding of advertising, media planning/buying, market research, e-marketing strategies and television ratings.

Job Function (duties and responsibilities):

  • Develop, manage and lead all advertising efforts, including placement of paid/trade schedules, tracking placement, providing recaps and building relationships market-wide.
  • Develop, manage and lead development of marketing/promotional plans to reach designated goals, with duties to include, but not be limited to:   prioritizing all promotional messaging, organizing the use of assets (website, Texans Radio, Texans TV, database, marquee, website, social media, on hold message, etc.) and communicating with necessary parties; serve as messaging hub for Club.
  • Work closely with and manage all broadcast partners (radio, network TV, cable, English/Spanish, etc.) to deliver special programming, ensure fulfillment of contracts and develop strong relationships to further benefit the organization.
  • Support non-sport PR efforts through weekly brainstorming meetings, building media relationships, booking interviews, construct press releases as needed and facilitating appearances.
  • Oversee the creation and generation of all email marketing campaigns for Marketing, Events, Cheerleader, Mascot and Community/Foundation departments.  Also help monitor and update webpages for all departments.
  • Lead promotional initiatives (i.e., PWL, Back to Football, schedule release) by helping develop concepts, brainstorm activation, effectively communicate to the community and assist Marketing Event group with execution.
  • Service the marketing needs of internal departments, including ticketing, premium services, corporate department, new media and others.
  • Lead brand growth regionally and nationally by building radio and TV affiliate relationships, leading communication and  trafficking, maintaining contact with fan groups in priority markets, launching and maintaining the website that allows for regional fan meet-ups and gameday events.  Generate national exposure for the Club through TV/media opportunities, exposure on NFL Network and NFL.com.
  • Lead all regional outreach trips with duties to include, but not be limited to:  generating advance publicity, facilitating media appearances, coordinating and executing community events, corporate partner autograph signings, etc. Collaborate with other members of the organization (Marketing Events, Communications, etc.) to ensure all trip elements run smoothly.
  • Share ownership of our broadcast partner relationships and ensure fulfillment and usage of all media partner deliverables, including advertising inventory and promotions promised.  Assist with contract negotiation, special programming and publicity opportunities as needed.
  • Manage Graphic Design department to ensure all projects are completed on time and without errors. Help implement team brand strategy through season-long marketing campaigns, gameday signage, social media graphics, sponsor co-promotions, etc.
  • Be a voice in the Club and LSSE creative process, including assistance with the development and updating of TV and radio spots and display advertisements.  Also help manage relationships with production contacts.
  • Share ownership of brand monitoring, including enforcement of the legal use of the Club logo and providing permissions as needed.  Also assist with enforcement and approvals for branding through retail efforts and corporate partner activations..
  • Manage the process to acquire awards and nominations for the Club, specifically in the marketing, creative, gameday entertainment and community outreach areas.
  • Responsible for management of department gameday duties, including all signage, messaging, Tailgate Times and marquees, as well as assisting with on-field and concourse activities as needed.
  • Supervise Marketing Manager, Marketing Design Coordinator and Graphic Designer positions, including hiring, performance management and termination.
  • Provide leadership to part-time marketing staff as needed.
  • Provide marketing, public relations and event support for Lone Star Sports and Entertainment events and initiatives, as needed.
  • Perform various other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Vice President, Marketing and Community Development.
  • Position requires routine face-to-face personal interaction with other Club personnel; therefore, job responsibilities must be physically performed in the Club offices and not in a telecommuting manner.

Travel Requirements:

Frequent local and occasional regional travel tied to sales opportunities, special events, and outreach program events sponsored by the Club and/or by the National Football League.
