IT Support Analyst - Houston Texans and The McNair Group (Houston, TX)

Title: IT Support Analyst

FLSA Status: Exempt

Department: Information Technology

Reports to: IT Service Desk Manager

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years applicable work experience required.

Basic Function:

Provide software, hardware, network, mobile device and telecom support to end users at multiple Club and The McNair Group (“TMG”) office locations.

Skills Required:

  • Strong knowledge of PC hardware, Microsoft operation systems and Office suites.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to troubleshoot and resolve problems at the end user level.
  • Working knowledge of data networks.  Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server and Exchange.
  • Strong problem solving skills and decision-making ability.
  • Must be able to support 24/7 work environment and be willing to work rotating schedules during the Houston Texans (“Club”) football season. 
  • Basic telecom system administration experience preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a high-energy environment.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communications.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and ability to work effectively under pressure and within deadlines. 
  • Ability to maintain confidential and/or proprietary information.
  • Display strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain solid working relationships.

Job Function (duties and responsibilities):

  • Participate in the Service Delivery Process (ITIL/ITSM).
  • Receive calls, walk-ups, portal entries from users regarding incidents or service requests.
  • Investigate and resolve software and hardware incidents (e.g. MS Office suite, operating systems, graphics, printing, email, mobile devices, VPN, web browser, etc.)
  • Document problem analysis, communication and resolution in IT/ITSM service desk tracking application (ServiceNow).
  • Assist in updating service desk related asset inventory, PC hardware, software, mobile device, printer, scanner and participate in semi-annual physical audit
  • Answer questions, applying knowledge of software, hardware and procedures.
  • Create, delete and modify user network and email accounts.
  • Correspond with software and hardware vendors to request service regarding defective products.
  • Test software and hardware to evaluate ease of use and provide written reccomendation to management.
  • Write or revise user training manuals and procedures.
  • PC deployment and software packaging via SCCM.
  • Coordinate daily telecom adds, moves and changes.
  • Perform various other tasks assigned from time to time by the Service Desk Manager.
  • Position requires routine face-to-face personal interaction with departmental staff and other Team personnel; therefore, job responsibilities must be physically performed in the Club and TMG offices and not in a telecommuting manner.

Travel Requirements:

Flexibility to travel between multiple local office locations required.

Title: Tax Accountant

FLSA Status: Exempt

Department: Tax

Reports to: Director of Tax

Education/Experience:

  • Master’s of Science in Accounting degree preferred or completion of advanced accounting hours for CPA eligibility.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred or actively pursuing CPA exam.
  • One year of related work experience in tax accounting required.

Basic Function:

Responsible for various duties within the Tax department, including the preparation of federal and state tax returns, preparation of the work papers supporting the returns, researching tax issues that arise and being informed of federal and state tax law changes as they pertain to The McNair Group (“TMG”) entities.

Skills Required:

  • Working knowledge of tax preparation software such as GoSystem. 
  • Proficiency in analysis of financial data.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop solid working relationships at all levels across the organization.
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to produce high-quality, accurate work within designated deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and/or proprietary information.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software applications.

Job Function (duties and responsibilities):

  • Assist with preparing federal tax returns including partnership, S-corporation, not-for-profit, individual and trust returns, multi-state tax returns and numerous Texas margin tax returns and all related items filed annually in addition to returns such as tax estimates, extensions and various state filing fees.
  • In connection with tax returns, prepare work papers supporting the conversion of financial records to tax basis records which are generally required for all entities.
  • Provide tax information, including tax estimates as well as Schedule K-1s, to external partners in several partnerships.
  • Utilize GoSystem tax return software and Great Plains accounting software.  
  • Prepare for outside consultants the detailed asset schedules and information necessary to prepare personal property tax renditions for various McNair Group entities.
  • Enter fixed asset additions for tax depreciation into GoSystem for various entities.
  • Research various tax issues as they arise throughout the year.  Also, keep informed of current federal and state tax law changes as they pertain to our entities.
  • Interact with financial accounting personnel, foundation personnel, and with investment group members.
  • The above responsibilities are not meant to be all inclusive and can be expected to be augmented as the work environment dictates.
  • The above responsibilities are shared with and under the supervision of the Vice President of Tax and the Tax Director.
